Iran's Yemen plan humanitarian: Afkham

TEHRAN, Apr. 15 (MNA) – Iran Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman stressed the obligation of states to fulfill their commitments toward international agreements.

During her weekly press conference, Marzieh Afkham briefed the reporters on various issues. Regarding the recent actions of US Senate and its impact on the negotiations she asserted that Iran is talking to US government and it is the government who is responsible to fulfill the expectations according to international law.

On the presence of inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Iran, Afkham stated that talks between Atomic Energy Organization of Iran and IAEA are on the right path and the inspectors are here to discuss two remained issues; “based on cooperation and transparency policies, Iran has established good interaction with IAEA, which will soon indicate that Iran has no violation from its commitments.” According to Afkham, the issue of Marivan site and an article on neutrons are among the issues to be discussed in sessions with the IAEA team.

Iranian Spokeswoman, regarding Yemen crisis and the critical condition of the Yemeni nation, emphasized that the single solution to the crisis is political, not military, and countries have to cooperate to set the ground for Yemeni talks.

“Iran has thus prepared a four-point plan to help resolve the issue that includes ceasefire and sending humanitarian assistance to the people affected by violence,” she added.

“This would be followed by launching an intra-Yemeni dialog, and establishing an inclusive government including all Yemeni factions,” Afkham clarified.

FM spokeswoman also noted that Iran expected the United Nations Security Council resolution on Yemen to concentrate on attacks against civilians and destruction of infrastructures in the country due to the war.

On the issue of sexual harassment of two Iranian teenagers by Saudi officials, Afkham noted the important point of the issue is the way Saudi Arabia would follow up the case and penalize the convicts.

She said Iran has demanded this strongly, adding that necessary measures have been taken by the Iranian Embassy in Riyadh and Tehran has made its political demands clear to Saudi officials.

Considering the issue of Russian President’s order to lift the ban prohibiting the delivery of S-300 missile air defense systems to Iran, the Spokeswoman said Iran and Russia enjoy inclusive relations that include all fields of political, security, economic, and defensive cooperation.

“Considering defensive field, the relations were influenced by sanctions to some extent, yet the issue was resolved by negotiations and Iranian side insistence.”

Meanwhile, she announced that the next round of nuclear negotiations will be held during next week at the deputy levels, adding that the exact day and place are not specified yet.
